REPORT LCOY SOMALIA 2024

Somalia is highly vulnerable to climate change due to its geographic location and socio-political challenges. Recurring droughts, floods, desertification, and food insecurity have long impacted the country, while limited infrastructure and political instability make adaptation and mitigation efforts more difficult. The youth in Somalia, comprising a large portion of the population, are particularly affected but have had limited opportunities to engage in climate action. The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Somalia 2024 was established to address these challenges and involve young Somalis in the solutions. Recognizing the importance of youth as catalysts for change, LCOY Somalia served as a platform for addressing climate-related issues and enabling Somali youth to take action.
