Somali Youth at the Frontline of Climate Solutions

Somalia is recognized by the United Nations as one of the most climate-vulnerable nations in the world, facing extreme droughts, flash floods, and rising temperatures. More than 2.9 million Somalis are displaced and 6.6 million face acute food insecurity.

Organized under the YOUNGO framework, LCOY Somalia 2025 amplified youth voices, built leadership capacity, and connected local climate realities to national policy and global platforms including COY20 and COP30.

Somali National Youth Statement on Climate Change

The official national youth position on Somalia’s climate crisis. Reflects the collective priorities, aspirations, and demands of Somali youth gathered from all Federal Member States. Validated on 4 November 2025 — serves as Somalia’s youth contribution to COP30 and international climate negotiations.
